  ३ डिसेंबर २०२३ चा रविवार महाराष्ट्र टाइम्स वाचत असताना दुसऱ्याच पानावर एक बातमी वाचली त्याचं शीर्षक होतं "ज्ञानपरंपरेत पुराणकथा नकोत". हे शीर्षक वाचताक्षणी ठरवलं की आता पूर्ण बातमी वाचायचीच. बातमीच्या सुरुवातीलाच "राष्ट्रीय शैक्षणिक धोरणात भारतीय ज्ञान परंपरेच्या अभ्यासक्रमात पौराणिक कथांचा समावेश न करता सांस्कृतिक वारसा, नद्यांच्या खोऱ्यातील संस्कृती, पुरातन जीवन शैली, थोर शास्त्रज्ञांचा अभ्यास या घटकांचा समावेश करणे अपेक्षित आहे" असे मत पुणे विद्यापीठाचे माजी कुलगुरू श्री नितीन करमळकर यांनी व्यक्त केले. पूर्ण बातमी वाचून झाल्यानंतर देखील बराच वेळ डॉ नितीन करमळकर यांनी व्यक्त केलेल्या मताबद्दल विचार चालू होता. साहजिकच मला पहिला प्रश्न हा पडला की भारतीय ज्ञान परंपरेच्या अभ्यासक्रमात पुराणकथा नकोत असं डॉ नितीन करमळकर का बोलले असावेत ? पुणे विद्यापीठाचे माजी कुलगुरू श्री नितीन करमळकर मला वैयक्तिक पातळीवर तरी डॉ नितीन करमळकर यांचं हे वक्तव्य अजिबात पटलेलं नाही. आता डॉ. करमळकरांचं मत का पटलं नाही यासाठी आधी आपल्याला “Indian Knowledge system” अर्थात भारतीय ज्ञान परंपर...
